Fifteen home matches, 10 wins. Fifteen away matches, 0 wins. That is the shape of Vitória's season in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, and it is the reason a side with 36 points sits 12th after 30 rounds rather than pushing for something better.

The home record reads like a contender's: 10 victories, 1 draw, 4 defeats. The away record reads like a relegation case: 0 wins, 5 draws, 10 losses. Same team, same squad, two different championships.

Sunday 11 October produced the latest away defeat, 2-1 at São Paulo. It followed the pattern exactly — a competitive match that ended on the wrong side of the scoreline, the 14th league loss of the campaign. Vitória have scored 33 and conceded 44, a goal difference of -11, and the split explains almost all of it.

The next chance to break the pattern comes on Monday 19 October, away at Corinthians in round 31. On the road this season, that is the hardest kind of fixture to argue for.

Look at the table and the cost becomes plain. Flamengo lead on 64 points with a goal difference of +33; Palmeiras are a point behind on 63. Vitória are on 36, twenty-eight short of the top. Had the away form matched even a modest mid-table standard, the gap would look nothing like that.

Form over the last five reads WDLWL, ending in a defeat, with a streak of 1L. Nothing in that run suggests the road problem is close to solved.

So what is it? Fifteen matches is not a small sample. A team that wins 10 of 15 in its own stadium has the quality to take points elsewhere, and yet has taken none. Supporters who travel have watched 15 matches without a single win.

Corinthians away. If the pattern holds, the answer is already written. If it breaks, Vitória have a season to salvage.
